The roots
Before any of this had a name.
NextGen IVF LifeLabs did not start in 2012. It started with two men who were building embryology labs when the field was still working out what a good one looked like — and whose sons now run the company.

They were in the rooms early. Specifying incubators when the choice was narrow and the stakes were not. Commissioning clean air before anyone called it air quality. Arguing about temperature stability to a tenth of a degree, because they had worked out before most people that the tenth of a degree was the whole job.
They sold equipment, but that is not really what they did. They walked into half-built rooms and told people the truth about what would work. They came back when something failed at six in the morning. They built the kind of relationships where a lab director calls the same number fifteen years later and gets the same answer.
That is the part their sons kept. The catalogue has changed completely — different manufacturers, different technology, an industry that grew up around them. The habit did not: know the room, tell the truth, answer the phone.
What carried forward
The catalogue changed. The habits did not.
Specify around the work
Not the spec sheet, not the margin. What the lab is actually trying to do, and what will still be true in five years.
Be there at handover
A room is not finished when the equipment arrives. It is finished when the team can run it on a bad day.
Answer the phone
Support is the same people who specified the system. It was true then for the same reason it is true now: nobody else knows the room.
